We detailed a 2004 Lexus RX330 in Farmingdale, NY. This package called for our most popular package, “The Extreme Detail”. We washed the car down removing all loose debris and surface contaminants on top of the paint. Next, we took a clay bar to the paint to level the surface. (Removing minor surface scratches and imperfections on the clear coat)
We washed the car again to remove any clay residue left behind and any dirt left on the surface. We dried the car down thoroughly with microfiber to prevent swirling on the painted surfaces. We applied a coat of wax (carnauba based) to the exterior of the RX330 before moving on to the interior.
The interior cleaned up nicely as we vacuumed all carpeted surfaces and treated the leather seats. The dashboard already had a high gloss and the owner preferred we clean and not use any product as she prefers more of a “matte” look on vinyl and plastic trim.
The owner was not present to inspect the vehicle as we left, but was pleased to tell us that we did a great job on a phone call later that week. We were also happy with the results as this car was to be delivered to the owner’s son after detailing was complete.
We recently detailed a Four Winns Vista Cruiser at Whaleneck Marina in Merrick. This boat was found in the water and in good condition. It needed to be compounded as there was light oxidation in certain areas of the topside. This boat is going to be put up for sale and the owner was concerned with a few key areas that needed to be addressed. The canvas top on this Vista Cruiser was in rough shape. It needed to be scrubbed to bring back the original color by removing stains.
We washed and scrubbed down the entire boat making sure to remove all the dirt and surface contaminants on the gel coat. We spent extra time removing and scrubbing the canvas pieces. It took time to remove them and put them back on making sure that we removed all stains. Next, we scrubbed the interior down and removed the carpets from the floor. We scrubbed using a special formula to treat non-skid surfaces and finished up by rinsing down the floor.
After all exterior surfaces were dry we started compounding. It was evident that this boat had not been compounded in a while as the gel coat absorbed the compound. We used a fair amount of product and were able to remove a lot of the oxidation that was present. The wax we used was applied and removed smoothly and left the boat’s surfaces and smooth to the touch.
The interior of the boat shined up as well as there was no oxidation present. It was evident that the owners had taken good care of the boat’s interior. We scrubbed the carpets with shampoo and dried them out with our 6.5 hp shop vacuum to remove water and moisture.
After the carpets were in we polished the glass, treated the leather seats, and polished all chrome pieces and trim. We were happy with the results, despite somewhat difficult working conditions. (hanging off the side to remove wax/compound) We look forward to servicing more clients at Whaleneck Marina soon!
This previous weekend we detailed an Acura MDX in Port Washington. This vehicle was dirty when we found it with dust, tree sap, and dirt covering the vehicle. The MDX had a high quality paint job with a durable clear coat so we had an idea of the exterior end results before we started the detailing process. The hose/nozzle combination provided by the home owner worked perfectly as the homeowner had the best water pressure that we’ve ever seen!
After washing the vehicle much of the loose dirt came off with ease. There was an unusual amount of brake dust built up that we were able to remove from the first washing. After the vehicle was dried we moved onto our compounding stage were the clear coat was restored and brought back to a natural state. When the compound was removed, the surface was now ready for a coat of carnauba wax.
The wax was applied and removed with ease leaving the MDX was glowing in the sun! To finish up the exterior we treated all plastic trim, and polished all chrome pieces and glass. The inside of the vehicle was dirty and evident there was a child in the backseat. There were crumbs and “goo” on the windows where the child usually sits. Additionally, the leather needed to be cleaned and treated. We started by taking the vacuum over all carpeted areas. Next, we scrubbed all mats and carpets with shampoo. We followed up by treating the leather, door panels, dashboard area, windows, and jams. The owner was very pleased with the end results as the interior was in rough shape when we found it.
The Porter Cable 7424 XP is the real deal when it comes to high speed buffing and polishing. This is a professional grade machine that we’ve been using at Victory Detailing to achieve stellar detailing results. This model is an upgrade to the original Porter Cable 7424 providing 4.5 amps and 6,800 OPM’s.
This new model is ergonomically designed as they’ve speed the speed dial and the on/off switch on the top of the machine to allow changing speeds without removing the polishing pad off surfaces. Coupled with a solid backing plate (we recommend Lake Country) the possibilities are endless as pads are interchangeable making this the most versatile orbit buffer on the market.
Porter Cable has done it again providing and upgrade to an industry standard that provides a paint safe, reliable, and effective detailing solution for a variety of applications. Additionally, this machine is economical as it will break down product as high speeds where the need to use excess product is a thing of the past.
The Porter Cable 7424 XP is 13% faster than its previous model on top speeds. The machine handles smooth and counter weights strategically placed in the machine make it easy to use, even for beginners.
We recommend this product for professionals, enthusiasts, and even beginners as it will provide incredible results when used properly and is rugged enough to last years, even if it is used daily.
Last week we detailed a gray Nissan Murano in Woodbury, NY. This job called for a wash / wax treatment. As we initially looked over the car it was in good condition except for bird droppings on the driver’s side of the vehicle. We started this detailing job with a thorough rinsing including the wheel wells and undercarriage as a lot of dirt had accumulated.
The initial wash and scrub took a good portion of our time as the jams had been caked with dirt and needed special attention. The rest of the Murano washed nicely as the hood, side panels, and roof were clean and free of swirl marks. We dried the Murano down to prepare the vehicle for a coat of wax.
The wax application / removal really shined up the paint’s surface. Usually we clay bar the vehicle prior to waxing for the purpose of removing all surface contaminants. In this situation the owner was comfortable with just a coat of wax and the results were to his expectations.
We treated the tires, polished the glass, and moved onto the interior to vacuum. At the request of the owner, he opted to just have it vacuumed and not the plastic or vinyl surfaces treated. We graciously accepted the request and followed through with polishing the glass and cleaning the floor carpet mats. This Murano looked great as we finished the final touches on it. We hope to do more vehicles in this community in Woodbury.
